Art From Waste: Experimentation and Creative Thinking

There is a growing trend towards using recycled and everyday materials that has been occurring in the art and textile world over the past 15 years or so. Contemporary artists are making use of found materials and experimental approaches to create works that reflect today’s society and its issues.

This workshop will look at the ‘throw away’ in a different light and will teach some construction methods for making innovative works. Learn how to take different approaches rather than finishing one work – the idea is to stimulate ideas and give starting points for making new work.

Techniques involving cutting and reassembling, weaving, twining, finger knitting, collage, construction, folding etc will be used.  The idea of repetition and how it can be used to make large works and presentation of various types of work will be covered.

Participants will be asked to bring materials they have collected…………….
